Google Helps You Receive the Best Possible (free) Medical Advice
Years ago when I co-authored Mosby's Medical Surfari, the foremost goal was to highlight the very best healthcare resources on the Internet. It was 1996 and most of us were just embarking upon the infobahn, new reference sites were plentiful but their quality (and authority) were very questionable. Out of over 2000 sites we surveyed, 450 were eventually selected to be the very best. Of course Google didn't exist back then, AltaVista was the best search tool. Google is now at the very forefront of ensuring search results are as close as possible to what you are searching for.

Obviously selling advertising related to your search interests is a key goal of theirs, but no one will read or click on the adverts if the search results don't measure up. This entry on the Google Blog discusses issues relating to seeking medical information online and summarizes their best advice as to what you should be seeking to help validate the details you find as being trustworthy and reliable along with guiding you through your personal medical search trevails.
