I've Finally Got One!
My patience paid off and after waiting five weeks outside the Mag Mile Apple Store I got my own iPhone. I'm very happy with it and despite the steep price ($599) and the awful AT&T network, and the lack of a Sim card and the inability to take videos and numerous other missing features that are standard in many other phones, I'm glad to be a part of the Steve Jobs adoration club. Here's just a few photos of my new baby: ![]() ![]() Labels: Apple, happy, iPhone, technology Share on Facebook 1 comments

All jokes aside, I finally got to play with an iPhone at the main Chicago Apple store two days after it launched. There were a boatload of people doing likewise and I had to shoulder surf before I got a chance to actually use one myself. First thoughts: the screen is huge and displays picture and movies well. The browser does a great job of displaying web pages, especially Google Maps and it is very easy to manipulate the content using your fingers on the touch screen. I really like the "squeezing" of your thumb and index finger to expand and reduce picture sizes. The auto sensing portrait/landscape mode didn't seem to work in either video or web mode, but worked well (albeit slowly) when viewing photos. All-in-all I was very impressed. I'm still waiting for v2 and another provider than AT&T. Also the price has to come down and the memory capacity needs to increase.
